I am Samar Singla- physicist by education and a self taught, self proclaimed photographer. To me, photography is trying to understand what captivates human eye. The thing that attracts me to photography is its personal and subjective nature- no two people like same pictures and in the same way! Symmetry, colors, contrast, rhythm, any of these or even the absence of any of these could make a picture great. Then there are pictures that don't care about any rules, and technique but rather tell a story. They might not be beautiful but they are captivating, they convey what they intend to and thats what make them seen again and again. I have found myself returning to some photos again and again in galleries. Though I may not rate them the best if I were to rank out of all the photos I have seen but they appeal to me even without me acknowledging it. Making that kind of pictures is my vision of this hobby of mine, that has grown into a passion, that has changed me more than I ever thought.
I now stop to observe the occasional huge yellowish moon and make imaginary compositions, even if I don't shoot any picture, I am learning. I now know when sky has beautiful clouds, its no longer an unnecessary detail but a thing of utmost importance. I now take my time to look in branches of trees when I hear some bird call and admire how I was missing beautiful things in life and why everyone should be a photographer- with or without camera.
